Lake Balaton is the essence of Hungarian rural beauty. Hungary's version of Provance. We will pass the beautifully renovated Abbey of Tihany, which was founded 1000 years ago. For 7 euros per person we can look at the fancy baroque interior. The tour is filled with beauties, interesting history and (if you opt in by sending us a message) very good wine! The views, the great gastronomy, the fresh wines, the charm of the villages and the historical and architectural heritage of the region are all good reasons to make a trip here. Spend the day in the lovely landscapes of Central Europe’s largest freshwater lake on a full-day tour of Lake Balaton. Depart from Budapest and travel by air-conditioned bus to the beautiful town of Balatonfüred. Located on the north coast of Lake Balaton, the town is famously referred to as the capital city of the lake. You can experience an overview of city first by taking a short trip by “nostalgia train” around the area as well as a 1-hour cruise on Lake Balaton. Afterwards, you will have some free time to take a stroll along the picturesque promenade and enjoy some lunch (not included). Later on, drive to the “Tihany Peninsula” to see why it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is rich with architecture and vineyards that produce excellent quality wine. Get a unique view of Lake Balaton from the hilltop before going to the Abbey of Tihany, founded in 1055. Transfer back to Budapest by air-conditioned bus, the tour ends at Hotel Intercontinental Budapest.

Take a private tour from Budapest to the unique 300-meter-long cave system of Tapolca, situated under the heart of the charming town near Lake Balaton. It was opened to the public in 1912 after ten years of its discovery. Small boats can be hired to explore the cave system. Merely 15–20 m below the town a 5 km long cave system criss-crosses the Miocene limestone layers. This includes the 3.3 km long cave lake, which is mostly filled with karst water. The cave was discovered in 1903 during well digging. Then we use the ferry to cross the lake (together with the car), where you can already enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake. The ferry takes us to the nicest part of the lake, a quaint village with the best views.
