Arctic Train – The Northernmost Railway in Norway

Northern Lights Tours Bodo Norway
From beginning of September to April the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Northern Norway are great.
The weather (cloud cover) and the geomagnetic prognosis determine where the road takes us on the given day.
We will take you where the chances of clear skies are the greatest and the best locations for seeing the Northern Lights.
We go all in to find the Northern lights by checking 25+ different spots. Some nights we have a late return to Bodo (like 2 am).
Last seasons we have had a hit rate around 80 %. Before the trip starts we will advice on how the chances to see the lights are.
We head out from town in a comfortable Mercedes 7 seater van (4WD) with panoramic sunroof.
Moose Safari Bodo, Norway, Meet the Largest Land Animal in Europe
The Moose is quite shy and is easily scared back into the woods, but normally they are quite co-operative and allow us to get quite near. We know the habits and life of the moose and where we have the best chances to see them.
Elg – the moose is called Elg in Norway, but the moose is not comparable with the american elk. The elk (cervus canadensis) , however, is an entirely different deer (much smaller).
Largest in Europe – the moose is Europes largest land animal, also the largest member in the deer family. A fully grown bull are over 2 meters high at the shoulders and weighs up to 750 kg (1650 lb). Cows seldom weighs more than 470 kg (1035 lb).
Saltstraumen: The moose safari trip will also include a stop by Saltstraumen, the strongest maelstrom in the world. You can walk the bridge and look down in to the powerful whirlpools.
Hiking Day Trip in Bodo, The Hidden Valley
Åselidalen
Valley is a beautiful valley carved out by glaciers some hundreds of thousands of years ago. Crystal clear mountain lakes and waterfalls surrounded by peaks is what you’ll find today. Starting from Bodø, the valley is a perfect place for a moderate hiking day trip in Northern Norway.
Bodø is known for excellent hiking options, its diverse landscape and the easy access to the mountainsides. If you’re a hiking enthusiast, you should add the area to your bucket list.
The Hidden Valley: The Børvasstindane mountain range contains the signature mountains of Bodø. Åselidalen – “The Hidden Valley” – cuts into the mountains between the mountain ridges Åselitindan and Falkflågtindan.
Peaks: The valley is surrounded by jagged peaks, all over 1,000 metres above sea level. Two of them, PerKalsa and Børtind, are favourites among the locals.

Snowshoeing – Winter Day Trip in Bodo, Northern Norway
Snowshoeing is a good way to enjoy the snow if you are not steady on a pair of skis. The snowshoe trip is fully guided, and we’ll provide you with the necessary gear. To maximise your chances of having a great experience, it’s important to dress warmly.
Daytime Snowshoe Trips. This is a great way to enjoy the winter landscape and the Arctic wilderness near Bodø. We’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the nature, and on a guided tour you can immerse yourself in new knowledge about the Norwegian nature.
Arctic Night Snowshoe Hike. A bit adventurous? Then consider a mysterious evening snowshoe hike, which could be your chance to see the Northern Lights. You’ll then get a feeling of a winter night above the Arctic Circle. During the hike, we’ll stop by for a break, make an open fire and enjoy a hot drink.
eBike tour to viewpoint Keiservarden
This unique tour will take you from the city centre and through the local living areas before leaving the asphalt on to gravel roads and easy paths until we reach the bottom of the climb up to peak Keiservarden.
From there it is a 4,5 km ride 360 metres uphill – but no worries, your eBike will help keeping the heart rate down, although a little self effort and a light sweat is necessary.
We take breaks as needed and at the top we spend some time looking at the fantastic view 360 degrees.
Downhill is easy and as exiting as you preferr – just keep your speed at a comfortable level and don't scare those on a hike up.
While riding we communicate with Walkie Talkies – for guiding and heads-up situations.
Hiking Trip to Keiservarden, Classic Hike, Bodo – Northern Norway
Keiservarden is a real classic for the people of Bodø. This mountain plateau is Bodø’s most visited hiking destination and is renowned for the wonderful views of the city, sea and the Lofoten islands. Keiservarden is one of the best places to experience the Midnight Sun.
Keiservarden is the number one hiking destination for many in Bodø. Keiservarden is 366 m above sea level and climbing to the summit is not a very demanding hike.
The view from the top – you might be able to see the silhouette of the Lofoten, the islands of Værøy and Røst (the two outermost islands in Lofoten). To the east you will see the many peaks of the spectacular Børvasstind mountain range and the mountains near the Swedish border.
Stone stairs – several alternative routes lead to the top. In 2016 Sherpas from Nepal built stone stairs along our route, which saves the terrain from wear.
Whale safari with Puffins and Muffins (Andøy, Vesterålen)
Andøya is Norway's hidden spot for fantastic wildlife.
Join our summer whale/wildlife RIB-boat excursion to explore the canyon of Bleik and its surroundings.
The canyon is home to abundant marine wildlife, including the magnificent sperm whales. You will also have a chance to encounter other marine mammals, such as pilot whales, orcas, minke, and occasionally Risso's dolphins and fin whales.
All these animals frequent the area in search for food (different fish species), which also attract extraordinary bird and other wildlife.
In searching for whales, we will most likely encounter different birds (puffins, eagles, gannets, etc.) while we keep our eyes open for Harbor seals.
Join our 3,5 hours RIB boat excursion with a maximum of 12 guests to explore the wonders of Bleik Canyon.
During the tour, your guide will be onboard to give you information about all the wildlife we encounter, and take photos (as memories) to take them home with you after the trip.
Mjelle Beach – Easy Day Hike to Bodos no 1 Beach, Northern Norway
Walk on gemstones? Mjelle Beach is listed on TripAdvisor as one of the most popular things to do while visiting Bodø. A day trip to Mjelle is popular among locals and a great place for a quick getaway from Bodø. The sand of this secluded beach is both white and red. The red sand takes its colour from gemstone particles (garnet minerals).
Ideal for children: Getting to the Mjelle Beach is an easy stroll even for young ones, as it’s only a 30-minute walk from the car park. For young children, the beach is a giant sandpit with free rocks and shells.
Hike to Hovdsundet Beach – Bodo, Northern Norway
Hovdsundet: It’s hard to believe that Hovdsundet Beach and Auvika Beach are north of the Arctic Circle. The highlight of this challenging coastal hike is the secluded beach Hovdsundet, one of the most beautiful and remote beaches in Bodø. It comes as no surprise that this beach has become a quite popular Instagram spot in Bodø.
Challenging: The hike to Hovdsundet Beach is perfect for those who are comfortable and experienced with backcountry hiking. This route may prove challenging for novices. Be prepared to use your entire body as the trail ascends and descends over cliffs and rocky outcrops.
