Burren Exhibition

This day tour departs daily from Limerick City and heads to the scenic West Coast of Ireland! Start the day with a scenic drive through County Clare and continue to the Cliffs of Moher where you'll stop for 1.5 hours. Visitor charges at the Cliffs are included in the tour price and you will receive a complimentary ticket to the award winning Atlantic Edge exhibition, which examines different elements of the mighty Cliffs of Moher. The tour takes you through part of the Wild Atlantic Way and you will experience striking views of the Aran Islands on clear days. The region surrounding the cliffs is known as the Burren region, marvel at this unusual rocky landscape as we drive! Enjoy a short photo and rest stop at Bunratty Castle, before your return to Limerick! This one day tour offers superb value for money, and operates 364 days a year!

This breath taking scenic tour includes 2 hours at the iconic Cliffs of Moher, to explore, walk, photograph, relax and take in all this world famous site has to offer. Departing Galway, your local driver guide heads to the western coastline’s famous touring route-the Wild Atlantic Way, travelling past harbours, working farms, medieval ruins, 16th-century tower houses and stone churches. Our 1st stop is the medieval Dunguaire Castle, then onto the glacio-karst landscape of the Burren, passing the 12th century Cistercian Corcomroe Abbey. Following the Wild Atlantic way, we start to see the 3 Aran Islands. Onto Doolin pier for a photo stop and a chance to feel the wild Atlantic wind in your face. Then time for lunch at Doolin Hotel-try their delicious local sea food dishes! Arriving at the Cliffs of Moher, take a stroll along the summit of the Cliffs and witness the spectacular views of huge ocean and sky. We return to Galway via Lisdoonvarna, famous for its annual match making festival.

The Exhibition introduces visitors to one of nature's most extraordinary phenomena, covering the geology, formation, fauna & array of flowers, where native species flourish alongside Arctic, Alpine & Mediterranean plants. It also covers the history of the Burren people, their monuments, archaeology & culture. Exclusive short film by naturalist, Éamon de Buitléar, splendidly presents the Burren Landscape while Digital Story Trails are available via QR code. Headphones must be worn – not provided. The Burren Exhibition offers "a wonderful introduction to what makes this UNESCO Global Geopark so special." The Burren Visitor Centre is a not-for-profit enterprise run by the community & is the licensed information point for North Clare offering bespoke advice on what to see, where to go, as well as directions, maps & discount vouchers.

The Burren Visitor Centre is a not-for-profit community cooperative which has been run and managed by the people of the Burren for the last 50 years. This Experience: A Premium Guided Village Tour of Kilfenora, City of Crosses, and its ancient history, including a tour of Kilfenora Cathedral, St Fachnan’s Church, the High Crosses, and other notable sites of interest. Also included with this Experience is a ticket to the self-guided Burren Exhibition, Kilfenora Céilí Band Exhibition, the short film by naturalist Éamon de Buitléar on The Burren Landscape as well as access to the Centre's comprehensive Digital Story Trails via QR code (headphones must be worn and are not provided).

After experiencing all Bunratty Castle and Folk Park has to offer we then head westwards towards the Cliffs of Moher where you can spend an hour or two at the Cliffs of Moher Interpretive center built into the hillside with exhibits themed around the ocean, rock, nature & man. On the leg back towards Galway a stop to visit Poulnabrone Dolmen is a stunning reminder of our history on this tiny island.
