This half day tour of about 3-4 hours, gives you a first impression of the major points of interest of the island. The tour is perfect for those who only stay a short time in Faial and do not want to miss anything. The tour leads you along the southern coast from Horta to the volcano of Capelinhos with a number of stops in between. On the way back we will take a minor road high above the villages. Depending on the weather conditions, you will either visit the Caldeira or some view points above Horta.

The ascent to the mountain of Pico and the descent to the Caldeira do Faial are two adventures that complement each other. These activities are recommended for true nature lovers. Hiking around the Caldeira is an experience you should not miss out if you visit Faial. This collapsed volcanic cone is one of the main landmarks of Faial. With 2 km in diameter it is an impressive reminder of the force of nature. The trail around the perimeter is about 7 km long and can be done in two to three hours. The hike around the Caldeira is physically easy, but those suffering from vertigo might find a couple of well secured passages a bit of a challenge. This hike is only worthwhile to be done if the weather is clear and the wind is not too strong. You will be rewarded with stunning views of the neighboring islands and the untouched nature.

The full day tour takes about 7-8 hours and leads you to all points of interest of Faial. The Faial, everything in one day is perfect for visitors who want to know more about Faial, its history and its people. The tour leads you along the southern coast from Horta to the volcano of Capelinhos. At lunch time, we will have a rich picnic in one of the recreational parks of Faial. In the afternoon you will visit the Caldeira, see the lighthouse of Riberinha destroyed by an earthquake and then go to one of the best sandy beaches of the Azores.

The Caldeira of Faial has been a natural reserve since 1972 (category I – IUCN). It’s a volcanic collapse crater with unique characteristics. Since the Caldeira of Faial Descent is such a special experience, Faial Natural Park controls the access to the bottom, issuing only a limited number of permits. For this reason, a Certified Guide is mandatory for the Caldeira Descent. The trail is difficult because it is very narrow and steep and, sometimes, scrambling is necessary.

Hiking along the Levada, an abandoned water line, propels you into a completely different world. As if you were in the setting of Jurassic Park, just the Dinos are missing. The hike along the Levada can also be done if the weather is not perfect. The hike along the Levada is physically easy, but be ready to encounter some wet passages and pass through a short, but dark tunnel. The hike takes about 3 to 4 hours, due to the nature of the trail, the way back will be on the same route.

Run trough the 10 volcanos Trail with a local certified guide, who is also an experienced trail runner, an opportunity to experiment many different types of terrain, learn about the island and about running techniques on the trail.

This trail covers many different volcanic landscape. It's an opportunity to learn about volcanology, biology and history of the Azores. Our guides are extremely professional and passionate about their home.
