The Pacaya Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Guatemala, with a height of approximately 2,500 meters above sea level. The environment is made up of wet forests and rocks. It has stunning views of the Calderas Lagoon which we visit from the seat of our ATVs and three other volcanoes: Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango. On our unique Adventure we will take ATVs from San Vicente Pacaya to various areas near and around the Pacaya Volcano. We will go on various trails to some of the villages located at the base of the volcano, where we are able to hike up the side of the volcano on top of the petrified lava flow as high as you are able to go. Throughout the tour we will be able to admire different views of the volcanoes and drive through some of the villages. We will drive through different off road trails, and we will even take some time to drive on the volcanic sand and lava fields inside of a private plantation. We DO NOT go to the San Vicente Pacaya National park.

This walk is guided, and is offered in Spanish and English, with small groups of a maximum of 15 people, which allows greater interaction and dynamics in the activity. The sensation of walking through the lava flows formed by volcanic activity, and knowing the history and impact of the 1968 eruption, and how the town was reborn after almost total destruction, will change the perspective of your visit to this wonderful town. Private Transportation from Antigua to Pacaya Volcano. We arrive where your horse will be waiting dressed in the beautiful colors of Guatemala. Each horse has your own private cowboy guide (keeping you safe throughout the entire experience) Ride over lava rock to astounding views of 3 other volcanos serving at the foot of Pacaya volcano. Here your private lava chef awaits you as you roast marshmallows on the hot pockets of the lava and your chef prepares a pizza to be cooked on the lava coals. This is luxury style as your host will prepare a brightly colored Mayan picnic with colorful cushions, blankets and wine service. If sunset tour is available (out of rainy season….) we stay until dark so you can see the hot lava veins flowing and your cowboy guide leads you safely out in the dark, to your transportation back to Antigua.
