This is a walking tour going through several geisha districts, shrines, and beautifully preserved historic districts of Kyoto's Higashiyama area. The tour is about 3hr 30m. The guide is an expert, speaking very clear & easy to understand, native English. The guide is extremely knowledgeable and will be able to answer all your questions in detail. The guide will select a refreshing Kyoto snack during the break. Geisha traditions are traced to the spiritual center of Kyoto, where they were specified as geiko and maiko. Such a lovely tradition can hardly ever be enjoyed privately. From centuries ago, geiko and maiko parties have been given privately only for limited members of society. This tour makes it possible for visitors to truly experience the essence of geiko and maiko in an authentic manner. During the event, English-speaking guides will escort you around the geiko and maiko district, to be followed by a dinner or party arrangement lasting two hours. Since geiko or maiko are privately arranged only for your group, you will have the chance to fully exchange conversations with them and hear their stories which would normally not be told to the public.

Higashi Chaya District (and Kazue Machi) The most famous tea district and Geisha/Geiko area in Kanazawa. It is also the home of Kinpaku (Gold leaf crafts). You will have the option to make your own gold leaf creation there.It is also possible to drink authentic green macha tea. The Samurai District Visit the streets where the Samurai lived. You will enter the houses of the Ashigaru (footsoldiers), and then view the larger residences of the more powerful samurai. You will have the option of entering the Nomura Samurai house. A kutani pottery museum and tea gardens are also en-route. There is also the option of taking a break for tea or a bite to eat here. Kenrokuen Gardens The famous gardens of the six attributes, facing Kanazawa Castle and Utatsu Mountain.There are opportunities to take a break, and to enjoy tea ceremony.

Some of Kanazawa’s most precious districts are overshadowed by bigger, more famous areas – but seeing the city through a local’s eyes creates an entirely new perspective. Visit Utatsuyama Park, an expansive forest in the middle of the city with over 100 types of wildflowers, and explore Nishi Chaya, a residential road where geisha and maiko (apprentice geisha) live and train. Forego crowded Higashi Chaya in favor of storybook Kazuemachi, a riverside district lined with wood-built, feudal-era buildings, and stop for coffee at a trendy cafe. Within 24 hours after booking you'll receive a short questionnaire about your personality and interests. Based on your responses, you'll be assigned a like-minded host. Your host will communicate with you directly to suggest an itinerary to help you discover what makes the city unique. You will also agree on a meeting time and place. Your itinerary is flexible, so during the experience, you can always change your mind about what you want to do.

Enjoy a live performance of a traditional dance accompanied by authentic shamisen and singing by maiko or geiko and a former geiko who is also a teahouse owner, and a matcha green tea experience while learning the proper etiquette. As the tour is limited to 10 people, customers can enjoy a leisurely conversation with the maiko or geiko and the owner of the teahouse. Feel free to take a commemorative photo with the maiko or geiko.
