La Leona Waterfall Hike An intimate private tour of the most off the beaten path trail to La Leona Waterfall. The day consists of a moderate 2-hour hike alongside the blue waters of Rio Blanco located deep in the canyons of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano where you will spot wildlife with your local guide along the way. You will be lead along the shaded path that goes upriver, stopping by 5 different pools and passing through a stone canyon, caves and small waterfalls until you reach the entrance of the canyon that leads to La Leona waterfall. Here you put your things in a drybag to jump into the water and swim a short distance to the waterfall. The waterfall has a stone beach in front of it where you can take photos. There is also a nice pool to splash around. Professioncal local tour guide and Costa Rican style lunch Included Important: The trails has many rocks and roots. Join us as we hike to La Chorrera, Colombia´s highest waterfall! We´ll start the day with a traditional Colombian breakfast. Then we´ll set off by a van to La Chorrera. Next we will reach the park and set off on our trek, taking in the spectacular landscape, breathing the pure air and enjoying the colorful birds(depending of the season we may not see birds) found at the top of the trees, finally reaching the 590 meter wall of water (depends of the season the chorrera maybe dont have water; but the tour still worth it just for the vews). We´ll have lunch at a restaurant before heading back to Bogotá. This 3-4 hour hike is challenging but rewarding, please make sure to bring comfortable shoes and bottled water! We will begin our descent on a downhill trail of approximately 500 m (1640 ft.) with more than 480 steps surrounded by the impressive rainforest until we reach the base of the fall. The waterfall is renowned for its 70 m (230 ft.) fall of crystal-clear water which originates in the Children’s Eternal Rainforest. With a little luck, we will spot animals like coatis, butterflies, toucans, orioles, among other species. Once at the base, you can take a swim in its refreshing waters, take pictures, or simply rest and admire the beauty of the La Fortuna Waterfall and the surrounding nature. When you visit the La Fortuna Waterfall, in addition to discovering an amazing natural wonder , you will help generate income for the Community Development Association to invest in social works to benefit schools, nutrition centers, the local orphanage, recycling center, roads, tourism safety, and more.
