Hike Table Mountain with a Guide – Choose Route
Hike to the top of Table Mountain, one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature & take the cable car back down.
There are 2 route options to choose from:
A. India Venster, a more adventurous, rugged and technical route to the top. Ideal for those looking for a more adventurous and thrilling way to hike up. Involves rugged, uneven terrain and some rock scrambling. More exciting. Less crowded. Duration +-3.5 hours
B. Platteklip Gorge, a more straightforward, less technical route to the top. Ideal for those looking for the most straightforward way to hike up. Involves hundreds of big rock steps all the way to the top. Less exciting. More crowded. Duration +-2.5 hours
Both routes are not easy and require a few hours of steep uphill hiking on rocky terrain to get to the top. Both routes end at the top of Table Mountain where we will take the cable car back down (if open). If the cable car is closed (due to weather/maintenance), we will be required to hike back down the more straightforward route.

Table Mountain Hike with an Expert Guide
We climb the secret trails of Table Mountain away from the crowds.
We will take you on some amazing private routes, known only to locals, which are less travelled and more scenic, offering great wildlife spotting opportunities and phenomenal views.
Along the way you will learn about the birds and wildlife found on the mountain and the famous fynbos belt, which makes up nearly 10% of all the entire plant species on earth. South Africa is the only country that can claim to have one of the world's six floral kingdoms completely within its borders in Cape Town.
We stop regularly to soak up the beauty and enjoy freshly brewed organic coffee or tea together with local organic South African snacks. All whilst enjoying superb views of the “Mother City” and the Cape Peninsula.
We generally choose to come down using the cable car (and depending on weather) we may hike down.
Bring along 1-2 liters of Water, warm Jacket (preferably a lite wind braker or quick dry), Sunhat & sunscreen.

The trail follows stepped footpath as well as rugged streambed hiking where there are 6 wooden ladders to climb. In winter we may ascend Nursery Ravine next door if we deem conditions are too wet and risky.
Once on the Back Table (lower plateau) at 740m ASL we continue to Maclear's Beacon at 1086m ASL passing through the incredibly vibrant Fynbos flora which makes the Cape so special. After reaching the summit we get views over the city and then head to the cable car for descent.

Guided Table Mountain Hike via India Venster
This route involves short sections of scrambling on narrow ledges, with some sections protected with metal “staples” (or ladders), so it is not suitable for those who suffer badly from fear of heights and do not enjoy pushing their boundaries.
This steep and challenging route requires a good fitness level.
There are many level sections along the route though that break up the climbs nicely so many people find this to be a less tiring route than Platteklip Gorge.
We meet at the Lower Cable Station and ascend via India Venster to finish at the Upper Cable Station.
If the cablecar is open – from the summit you can choose how long you would like to stay on the summit, enjoying the views and the treats available at the “Café at the Top”, and then take the cable car down mountain
If it is closed we will hike back down the mountain via Platteklip Gorge
