The Ainu Cultural Center is a real hidden gem. Tucked away in lush natural surroundings an hour or so outside of Sapporo, this center/museum is sure to please. It is very informative with tons of artifacts of The Ainu. The center is well curated and visitors are encouraged to hold and touch the many authentic Ainu handcrafts. The outdoor village with traditional handcrafted Ainu houses and canoes are very cool to experience as well. This is a “must go” sight for those interested in indigenous groups. Your tour will continue on to nearby Jozankei Hot spring(Onsen) Village. There are 56 hot spring sources in Jozankei, concentrated around both the Tsukimibashi and Takayamabashi bridges along with The Toyohira River which flows throughout the village. The waters of most of these hot spring baths average temperatures ranging from 60 to 80 degrees Celsius. As a member of this tour, you will experience a two hour hot spring bath at one of Jozankei’s most reputable hot spring hotels.

Enjoy the popular standup paddleboarding (SUP) experience on the Toyohira River, which flows through Sapporo City! In the ravine next to Jozankei Onsen, you can enjoy the scenery while standing or sitting on a board. The average depth of the river is about 1 meter and the current is gentle, so there is no need to worry if you fall into the water. Some people even jump in by themselves when they get used to it. Children can also participate because the water is shallow. We recommend wearing a life jacket (bring your own or rent one) and having a great time with your dog.

We have a multitude of different routes with different levels of fitness and distance depending on your preferences. We are happy to discuss the details to suit your needs and experience. There are many routes to choose from Including- Jozankei Tengu-dake. Distance: Approximately 9.2 kilometers. Highest Point: The summit of Jozankei Tengu-dake at 1145 meters. Difficulty- 7/10. Sapporo-dake: Views from the summit, enjoy vistas across Sapporo City, Mount Yotei, Muine-yama, and Jozankei-tengu. Diff-5/10. Soranuma-dake is a great option for a day hike, offering beautiful, forested trails and serene lake views. Diff-3/10. Tiene-dake:Location: Tiene-dake is west of Sapporo City with sweeping views of The Sea of Japan. Diff-5/10. Muine-yama-dake: A steady hike via a hut and small lakes. Diff-5/10.
