La Chorrera

A full day tour exploring the flora, fauna and natural wonders of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park. The day consists of a moderate 2-hour hike where you will see wildlife and volcanic activity. Next we will visit the Oropendola Waterfall where you can swim and play in the water. After the waterfall, it is time to eat a typical Costa Rican lunch following a trip to relax at the hot springs and enjoy a volcanic mud bath.

Join us as we hike to La Chorrera, Colombia´s highest waterfall! We´ll start the day with a traditional Colombian breakfast. Then we´ll set off by a van to La Chorrera. Next we will reach the park and set off on our trek, taking in the spectacular landscape, breathing the pure air and enjoying the colorful birds(depending of the season we may not see birds) found at the top of the trees, finally reaching the 590 meter wall of water (depends of the season the chorrera maybe dont have water; but the tour still worth it just for the vews). We´ll have lunch at a restaurant before heading back to Bogotá. This 3-4 hour hike is challenging but rewarding, please make sure to bring comfortable shoes and bottled water! La Leona Waterfall Hike An intimate private tour of the most off the beaten path trail to La Leona Waterfall. The day consists of a moderate 2-hour hike alongside the blue waters of Rio Blanco located deep in the canyons of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano where you will spot wildlife with your local guide along the way. You will be lead along the shaded path that goes upriver, stopping by 5 different pools and passing through a stone canyon, caves and small waterfalls until you reach the entrance of the canyon that leads to La Leona waterfall. Here you put your things in a drybag to jump into the water and swim a short distance to the waterfall. The waterfall has a stone beach in front of it where you can take photos. This beautiful natural park is located 1 hour from Bogotá. Leaving the road to Choachí, to get there we pass the mountain through the majesty of the green cross páramo and then, we go into the mountain in search of the waterfall of La Chorrera.

Great Colombian countryside experience! You will do the hike on your own – the path is totally safe! 90 minutes drive from Bogotá, La Chorrera waterfall at 590 meters is the highest in Colombia. Despite this fact, not very many people know of its existence – it’s another hidden gem. The site can be accessed by crossing the 3400-meter high mountains around Bogotá. The scenery leading up to the waterfall is wonderful, green, with lots of fresh air. The hike itself is not the easiest, there and back it takes around 3 hours. But the view and the scenery makes it very much worth your while! There’s also a smaller waterfall at the beginning of the hike, El Chiflon, of which you can even go behind – it provides an incredible experience for hikers. On the way to La Chorrera waterfall you go through a fantastic ‘fog forest’ that is surrounded by local farms. After climbing the Dunns river waterfall we will drive through the rain forest to the breath taking blue hole.
