It has been classified as a nature reserve since 1974 and is part of the Natura 2000 Network for being classified as a special conservation area. Lagoa das Sete Cidades is very likely the most iconic and recognized natural monument in the Azores. Walking Tour Fogo Lake allows you to discover one of the best lakes in São Miguel Island. This tour starts at 9AM with pick up included at hotels in Ponta Delgada. Our next stop will be the lake surroundings, where the trail begins. It's included a picnic lunch and it's advised to bring comfortable clothes and shoes, swimsuit, towel, water and sun cream.

Departing from Ponta Delgada, we head to Lagoa do Fogo, one of the largest waterbodies in the Azores, located in the central area of the island of São Miguel. The last eruption occurred in 1563. From this view point we can see both the north and southern coasts and the beautiful glimmering waters of the fire lake.
