Cape Town: Lion's Head Sunrise/Sunset Hike

We will be hiking up Lions Head, Cape Town's most Instragram'able hike. We plan to either catch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean or sunrise from the Hottentots Holland mountains. We enjoy some amazing photo opportunities before our descent. During a sunset hike, we descend in the dark using our flashlights (provided). During a sunrise hike, we may hike the first part in the dark using our flashlights (provided). While the hike is regarded as easier than Table Mountain, it still involves steep rocky and narrow terrain at certain points from about half up way and a section where the use of steel handles and chains need to be used to get up 2 pitches of about 3 meters each (only up and not down). Quite adventurous indeed. This hike has been an age old tradition for locals especially during the full moon and on clear/windless nights/mornings where the lights of the city below dazzle and the moon and stars show off its beauty in the night sky.

2-Day Yellowstone National Park Upper and Lower Loop Exploration

Explore both the Upper and Lower Loop of Yellowstone National Park in two days. This is one of our most popular tours of Yellowstone. Two unforgettable days in the world’s first National Park and an overnight stay enjoying the hospitality of Chico Hot Springs Resort, (depending on availability) or the charming small town ambiance of Gardiner Montana.  Lodging at Chico is on a first come first serve basis, guests are required to book their own lodging under their name and credit card, we are happy to assist in this process.  If lodging at Chico Hot Springs is not available at the time of booking, lodging will be arranged by the traveler at any hotel in Gardiner Montana.  The two day format allows for a more relaxed pace of the tour, affording travelers more time to enjoy the many wildlife encounters, breathtaking geothermal areas, numerous short hikes and boardwalk excursions throughout the tour.

The trail going up Lion’s head is a screw top trail you’ll be circling the mountain getting to the top. You will then continue steeply upwards to the first ladder, before traversing along a shelf with a chain handrail. Next, you will reach a fork, where you will have the choices to either veer left to circumnavigate two rock pitches or to turn right and climb the rock pitches. If you are not into vertical rock steps continue left, past some huge pine trees to gain the crest of the southeast ridge. At the summit of Lion's Head one has a 360 degree view it is one of the three iconic peaks that frame the city of Cape Town. It has Table Mountain as its backdrop and it is situated in the smallest and richest floral kingdoms in the world. Then little by little, the city lights will turn on or off offering a new sight. The Famous Ha Giang Loop Motorbike Adventure

** This is a self-ridden motorbike tour, a relevant license valid under Vietnamese jurisdiction is a must. This depends on the country of your origin, please contact us to advise further. ** We offered a shared car tour every Friday. **Sitting on the back of our motorbike driver is possible. Additional fees will be introduced. In the northernmost region of Vietnam, Ha Giang is a remote destination that has been open to tourism for only a few years. With a population of just over 700,000 people, this is one of Vietnam’s poorest places, and it shows—not because it is decrepit or run-down, but just the opposite—not being reliant on a strong economy has kept the area pristine and preserved, virtually untouched by the harmful effects of mass tourism and big industries. The region boasts nature as you have probably never seen it. Massive limestone walls, granite outcrops everywhere, hanging valleys, rice terraces climbing to the clouds, and winding roads carved into the mountainsides.

Lion's Head hike for Sunset

Lion's Head hike is a tour which we recommend to those looking for the best scenic views of Cape Town. The aerial views on Lion's Head are better than those you get while hiking Table Mountain or on other routes. While this hike is the easiest of the Cape Town treks because of the short duration it takes to submit the mountain, a guide is still advised because we would like to share our expert knowledge of the trail with you on a 3 hour hike which takes you from your hotel or accommodation in Cape Town and gets you to the highest point above Lion's Head which is approximately 669 meters above sea level.

Lion's Head Sunset Hike in Cape Town

Hike up South Africa's flagship mountain peak for incredible views at sunset over Cape Town with experienced local guides! Beginning on Signal Hill Road, this spiralling, short, steep climb is extremely rewarding with 360 degree views of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, the Twelve Apostles, the Mother City and the Atlantic Seaboard. In winter the distant Boland mountain range can often be seen capped in a blanket of snow and in spring the slopes of Lion’s Head are adorned in a wonderful display of floral beauty. This moderately difficult hike is relatively short in distance but with some exposure to heights and rock scrambling on the final summit ridge. This hike is ideal for soaking up a summer sunset on the lower slopes as the city lights come on…but you won’t be alone as many others have the same idea!
