During its golden ages, from the 13th to the 16th century, Bruges had several outports. Damme was then an important port city. After all, all goods came here from the sea, before they were transferred to smaller ships. Everyone always focuses on Bruges, but forgets about this Flemish village of only 11, 000 inhabitants, but with a great medieval past. History is very tangible in beautiful Damme.
