San Pedro La Laguna

We will ride through the streets of San Pedro and then head through the mountains towards Lake Atitlan and the volcano San Pedro until we find the hidden gem of the beach called the estate that was previously located a coffee farm with a beautiful beach, in this experience we will visit the streets of San Pedro and the nature of the place with incredible views of the volcano San Pedro and Lake Atitlan. If you would like to swim in the lake it is a good combination.

One of the most hiked mountain on shore Atitlan Lake. From that point it's possible to watch the sunrise and the volcanic chain of Guatemala. This mountain is also known as Indian Nose.

This is shared tourist shuttle transport between San Pedro La Laguna and Antigua, Guatemala. We will pick-up and drop-off at one common meeting point in San Pedro La Laguna (AT THE OFFICE FOF BENJY TOURS, on the main street near the docks), and we will collect from hotels in Antigua but only drop off at Central Park.

This tour will be an immersion in the communal farms of the indigenous Mayan Tz'utujiles where we will learn about local ecological coffee techniques and the entire process step by step from planting, grain and cup. We will also walk through the streets of the colorful town of San Juan and among the coffee plots so we will get to know the history of coffee and its connection with indigenous communities.

We will travel in the world of the indigenous Tz'utujile Mayans, we will walk through the streets of the towns of San Juan, San Pedro and Santiago Atitlán where we will learn about their culture, art and lifestyle. We will also carry out short workshops on local products in the following places of interest such as the Mayan bee world, the artisanal chocolate factory, and the women weavers' textile store. If you are visiting the southern part of Lake Atitlan this is a tour you cannot miss. This tour will take you to mountain tops and lookouts of San Pedro la Laguna. Here we visit a few look outs located above the village where we are able to enjoy great views of San Pedro and San Juan La Laguna, the lake, and the Indian Nose aka “Rostro Maya or Nariz del Indio”. After the look outs of San Pedro we have our longest drive of the tour going all the way to San Marcos la Laguna passing the town of San Juan and San Pablo La Laguna. In San Marcos we visit the Natural Reserve of “Cerro Tzankujil”, where we can take a swim on the lake or enjoy the views from the rock / mountain formations. After enjoying some time at the natural reserve we will hop back on our ATVs and head back to San Juan La Laguna, where we visit the famous lookout named “Kaqasiiwaan” viewpoint.To get to the actual lookout we have to hike about 15 minutes up the steps which takes us there.

We are going to walk through the street of umbrellas and the street of hats, we will take photographs with beautiful and colorful murals, we will also share brief workshops on cocoa, coffee, bees and Mayan textiles with natural dyes and the backstrap loom technique. We will also visit the Catholic church and the Kiaqasiwan viewpoint. It will be an authentic experience where we will get to know the local Mayan culture very closely.

Es una actividad altamente recomendada para los amantes de un buen amanecer, caminata corta a uno de los miradores mas espectaculares sobre el lago de Atitlán, observar la cadena volcanica y con suerte algunas veces se puede ver uno de los 3 volcanes activos de Guatemala. Salimos desde San Pedro, San Juan, San Marcos o si tu hotel esta ubicado fuera de estos 3 pueblos mencionados, por favor de contactarnos para poder organizar el traslado en bote y obviamente tiene costo extra. Empezamos a las 4 am, el guía lo recogerá y luego hay un traslado de 30 minutos en auto, después se comienza la caminata desde Santa Clara a la Cima del mirador Mayan Nose. La caminata dura 35 minutos y mientras llegamos para ver el amanecer y disfrutar de una bebida caliente. El tour termina a las 8am.
