The Mazzarosa Winery is one of the most historic wineries in Central Italy, it has been producing wines and oil for 150 years. Its structure, designed by Senator Devincenzi, is unique in its kind and in Italy only one other winery located in Sicily has the same architecture.
Inside we still keep one of the largest barrels in Europe, of 1000 hectoliters!
We are within a Nature Reserve and our wines are produced with SQNPI certification, that is Sustainable Quality.

Wine tour and Tasting in Nocciano
An extraordinary tour of the wine history of Abruzzo. Wine tasting and appetizers. The winery is one of the oldest in Abruzzo. Born in the 1897 is now located in Nocciano, between the Gran Sasso and the Majella mountains. The winery offers an astonishing tour through the wine life in Abruzzo, especially the visit of the underground tunnels where hundred thousands bottles are stored for ageing and the ethno-antropologic museum collecting items related to the viticultural and peasant tradition in Abruzzo. The winery can be reached only by car.
Tasting of 4 wines and other typical products follows the tour.
Medieval Abruzzo by R. Calascio with typical Abruzzo lunch
Accompanied by a professional local guide take a walk in the Castle of Rocca Calascio, famous for being the frame and set of numerous films and Hollywood films such as "Ladyhawke" and "The Name of the Rose"!
Start by visiting the village below the Castle which you will then reach via the path that leads to the entrance bridge passing through the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà located along the path at the foot of the Rocca.
You will continue with a typical Abruzzo lunch made of dishes made with excellence that the area expresses such as the Lentil of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Slow Food Presidium, the Saffron Dell'Aquila D.O.P. and the delicious Canestrato cheese from Castel Del Monte.
This will be followed by a visit to the splendid village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio with its newly renovated tower, you will explore its narrow streets and countless shops with its handcrafted products.

In the narrow territory of the village, which has always been devoted to viticulture and more generally to cultivation, one of the world's smallest Appellations of Controlled Origin has been created: the Villamagna Doc.
Our philosophy stems from tradition, which has handed down to us the cultivation of roses in vineyards as a practice used since ancient times.
The rose, an extremely sensitive plant, placed at the beginning of the rows, controls the health of the vine and helps the winemaker to monitor and protect the vineyard, detecting any pathologies and facilitating rapid intervention.
The typicality of our production lies in the craftsmanship of each step. In fact, each bottle is individually numbered and prepared by hand until the dried rose is placed.
You will visit the vineyards and olive groves and then return to the winery to the tasting of 3 Labels accompanied of the tasting of our oil with homemade bread
Food and wine tour of Pescara Vecchia on foot
This three and a half hour food and wine tour offers 5 authentic tastings (the food served in abundance will replace the prenzo) in different places in the village of Pescara Vecchia: it starts with a visit to the local market and discover seasonal products and secret ingredients. You will do 2 tastings in the family-run stores of the market.
You will continue in the village of the native places of Gabriele D’Annunzio doing 2 more tastings in the alleys among the dozens of restaurants, bistros and wine bars. The tour will end at a historic Pescara pastry shop with a tasting of the typical Pescara cake that Gabriele D’Annunzio loved so much: the Parrozzo

Stuffed chickpeas are a typical Abruzzo dessert, very popular even during the Christmas holidays. The taste is very particular and delicious, thanks to the combination of chocolate with other spices and, of course…. with chickpeas! Don't be intimidated by this juxtaposition … It will amaze you!
Enjoy a demonstration lesson on the making of cecio stuffed with Slow Food (Cecio di Navelli and solina flour) with explanation of the raw materials used and realization of the recipe lasting about 40 min.

Upon arrival you can collect a Picnic box per person and go to the olive trees adjacent to the Cellar. Here you will find specially prepared stations (with straw bales, tablecloths, mood lighting) to sit freely and spend a pleasant evening. You will find a kiosk on site where you can buy roasts, wine and more separately. The evening will be enlivened by traveling live music.

We are in the middle of a noble courtyard in the heart of the village, inside the room there is still a very ancient lever press from the 1600s.
The Polenta di Pettorano is unique in the Abruzzo region, for the corn flour we use and the artisan workmanship as it once was; mixed an hour and a half in the copper cauldron with the wooden pole, solid and non-liquid consistency is cut into slices by a very thin wire with delicious white sauce called "Rognoso" based on pecorino cheese and fried bacon.
