Explore an underground river system and 2 cenotes at the same location. All the photos listed here you will see in person. You will be swimming through different cave rooms under stalactites and hanging tree roots for approximately 1,5 hours with a life jacket which allows you to float therefore you do not have to be a great swimmer. As it is possible to get lost if you are navigating on your own, this location requires a guide. After the cave rooms have been explored, you will be able to spend time on your own without a guide to swim and take photos. Walking Tour: Underground Chicago via the Pedway


Take a tour of Chicago Loop's Pedway system, a network of underground pedestrian tunnels. We'll also go above ground to view some special Chicago sights. Our tour begins in the lobby of the Swissotel with a brief overview of the Pedway system.  We then descend into the Pedway and head to the Cultural Center.  After a brief tour of the Cultural Center and its famous Tiffany Dome, we return to the Pedway to visit Macy's department store and its famous Tiffany ceiling, then stop by the store's iconic Walnut Room. Back to the Pedway, we head west to the Civic Center plaza to see the Picasso sculpture and view the Chicago Temple and its Sky Chapel, one of the world's tallest church buildings.  A brief walk to takes us to City Hall and Marriage Court then to a nearby L Stop. A quick train ride takes us to the origin/terminus of Route 66 where we'll enjoy the Art Institute’s lion statues then Millennium Park's to Cloud Gate sculpture (aka, The Bean), Lurie Gardens and Crown Fountain.

It will be a city with a particular architecture, made up of limestone pinnacles that rise from the depths of the extraction and a succession of majestic walls and overhangs that make the landscape very similar to the Grand Canyon. It will be a slow and relaxing walk that will take us from the countryside level to 30 meters of depth. The first stretch will allow us to get to know the various spontaneous aromatic plants that flood the route with colors and smells; we will observe the characteristics of the limestone rock that makes up and delimits the open-air quarries and we will talk about this current extraction system. After a stop for refreshments, we will proceed into the quarries in tunnels which, due to their size, can be defined as extensive cathedrals of calcarenite with their 25 meter pillars and massive walls that alternate with the voids dug by the quarrymen.
