South Coast Including Vatnajökull National Park and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
On our Glacier Lagoon day tour we'll go for a drive along the South coast of Iceland heading to Europes largest glacier; Vatnajökull. Vatnajökull is the largest ice cap in Iceland, covering more than 8 percent of the country. In total Vatnajökull covers 8,100 km2 (3,100 sq mi) which is about the size of Delaware!
As we arrive to Vatnajökull National Park you'll start to feel the true force of nature, which becomes parent when we reach the large glacial lake Jökulsárlón on the south-east corner of Vatnajökull National Park. The lagoon developed after the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier started receding around the 1930s. The lagoon has grown since then at varying rates because of the melting of the glaciers.
Don't miss an opportunity to witness the true force of nature.
