Our kayaking trip takes place in one of the most beautiful parts of the river of Vjosa, the last wild river in Europe. We will start from Kelcyra's Gorge in southern Albania created by the Vjosa river, near the town of Kelcyre. The gorge has panoramic and relaxing views, during the trip we will enjoy the "Blue Eye" which has a water spring and natural phenomenon occurring near the village of Muzine Finiq. We will pedal through the canyon and the waterfalls for about 2 and half hour until we arrive at the village of Peshtan Gathering at restaurant Salmoni, you will park the cars there and our shuttle will pick you up and take you to the departure point of Kelcyra gorge. Preparing for the adventure, wearing neoprene suits, thermal sweatshirts, life jackets and helmets it’s a must. The whole trip will give you a very special feeling and the adrenaline will be covering your body going through Vjosa rapids, the beautiful canyons of Kelcyra, the waterfalls and the “Blue Eye” experience.

We shall drive over the mountains to the scenic Drinos valley to see Gjirokastra, the austere stone city perched on the Wide Mountain. We shall visit the mighty fortress, the old Bazaar and the 300 years old Skenduli house as one of the best representatives of the original architecture of Gjirokastra. We shall visit Benja thermal baths..A stone bridge arcs over a winding stretch of brilliantly blue-green water. Built-in the Middle Ages, it has been letting people cross the sulfur-rich river since the days of the Ottoman Empire. Warm water rushes beneath it, providing a relaxing treat for those who visit. Near the bridge, you’ll find the the Benja Thermal Baths, born from the geothermal waters near Përmet, Albania. The heated water flows down the river unless it gets diverted into one of the several human-made pools. They’re a splendid spot for a hot soak on a crisp, cool day.

Located 12km away from Fier city and also from the sea, Apollonia ruins are between the most visited archeological sites in Albania. Apollonia was founded near the Vjosa river in 588 BC from greek colonies of Corfu and Corinth. The area was also inhabited by the Taulantii tribe, the local Illyrian tribe that for centuries lived along with the Greek colonies. Apollonia was one of the 30 cities built in honor of Apollo goodness, the goodness of Sun, poetry, and music. Soon it became an important port full of life. The city became rich thanks to the commercial activities and the port that could anchor about 100 ships. It grew prosperous until an earthquake destroyed almost all the buildings, thus slowly giving way to abandonment. Today, the ancient archeological site of Apollonia is one of the best-known sites in Albania.

Enjoy a great experience in the last wild River in Europe, VJOSA River! We depart early in the morning around 8:00 AM from Gjirokastra in a one hour and a half trip through a scenic road to Permet where our Rafting adventure will take part. After reaching the starting point and having a cup of coffee or a beverage we start the Adventure at 10:00 AM. Around 2 hours rafting in the waters of Vjosa we reach the city of Permet. Then we head towards the hot springs of Benje, but before reaching there we stop for lunch at a family place where we suggest you the fish of the local river (lunch at your own expense). After the delicious lunch we spend around two hours in the hot springs a nature monument in Albania (where except the thermal pools you have the option to take a short walk inside the Langarica canyon) and hit the road again towards Gjirokastra. This magnificent day ends around 5:00 PM in CercizTopulli square right where it began! (Hotel pickup is available)
