Gubeikou was a strategic pass of the Great Wall in ancient times, offering an important access to Inner Mongolia and northeast of China. The main part of the Gubeikou Great Wall was first built in the Ming Dynasty 1368, and composed of two main sections – Panlongshan Great Wall (the Coiled Dragon Mountain Great Wall) and Wohushan Great Wall (the Crouching Tiger Mountain Great Wall). The Jinshanling Great Wall was first constructed built in the Ming Dynasty. The famous general, Xu Da, of the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) supervised and directed the construction of the Great Wall. Later, Qi Jiguang led a number of defense works while guarding the north area in 1567. Each tower has its unique feature and look. There are relatively less crowded here at Jinshanling Great Wall, it is a nice place to explore the Great Wall around Beijing.

Huanghuacheng Great Wall is not only more beautiful, but also much less tourists than tourists site. It was a strategic military pass to defend the imperial tombs in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). The Wall was built on the ridge of the mountains, and both stone and bricks were employed on the construction. In early 1950s the local authority set up two dam sites for irrigation and flood control and parts of the Wall submerged into the water. You will see two reservoirs at the beginning and the end of the hike. Huanghuacheng played an important role to protect the imperlal capital and mausoleums in the Ming Dynasty. In order to defend the capital and imperial tombs, two types of the Wall were built to the north of Beijing, Outer Great Wall and Inner Great Wall. Huanghuacheng is a part of the Inner Great Wall.
