The winery and village restoration is true to the vision of the founders Joseph and son Benno Seppelt and the historic Gravity Flow Winery, built into the hillside on a series of terraces, is back in use. You can call in at the cooperage to see barrels being made, explore the heritage gardens, or sample German-style beer or cordial at the traditional kiosk in the picnic grounds.

The Martin family, headed by Fernando and Jeanette, purchased the old Dorrien winery from the Seppelt family in 1984, officially opening it as Chateau Dorrien on 13 January 1985. In 1990 the family purchased the former ‘Karrawirra’ Winery in the Lyndoch Valley and renamed it Twin Valley Estate where production continues to this day.

Since the first vintage of Charles Melton Wines in 1984, this small Barossa Valley winery has gained both national and international recognition for its fine red table wines.

Charlie Melton also makes small quantities of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sparkling Shiraz, and is the only Australian producer of a vin-santo styled dessert wine, Sotto di Ferro.
