Our first stop is in the quaint town of Auburn, with heritage listed stone buildings and cellar doors. We taste the products of the small winemakers of the Clare Valley, wander through the local antique shops and indulge in morning tea.

Mintaro, a historic town, is our next stop. Stroll amongst the historic buildings including a pub, post office and shops, or visit the Georgian style Martindale Hall, a sandstone mansion built in 1880.

We are then off to Sevenhill Cellars, the first winery in the Clare Valley and one of the country’s oldest wineries. Visit the old stone winery and cellar door, spacious gardens and taste some of the most highly regarded wines in both Australia and overseas.

The beautiful Skillogalee restaurant is on the menu for lunch under the olive groves (a main meal and a glass of wine per person). If time permits, we travel next door to taste the fine wines of Kilikanoon Wines.

Afternoon tea is at the old Kapunda Hotel on our trip back to Adelaide.

We are then off to visit the Sevenhill Cellars, run by the Jesuit Brothers. Sevenhill was the first winery in the Clare Valley and is today one of the country’s oldest wineries. Visit the old stone winery and cellar door, St Aloysius’ Church, spacious gardens and taste some of the most highly regarded wines in both Australia and overseas.

Pikes Wines is another notable winery in the Clare Valley region of South Australia and is particularly known for its Riesling, which thrives in the region’s cool climate and limestone-rich soils.
