The Whispering Wall is in fact the retaining wall of the Barossa Reservoir. Built between 1899 and 1903, the dam was a revolutionary engineering feat for its day and attracted attention from all over the world, even making its way into the pages of the journal Scientific American.

But what draws visitors to the Whispering Wall is its unique acoustic effects: words whispered at one side can be clearly heard at the other, more than 100 metres away. Children in particular love visiting the wall and testing its abilities.

Besides trying out the Whispering Wall, visitors can also learn about the history of the construction of the dam, take in the scenery of the water reserve and enjoy the colours and sounds of the peaceful bush setting.

Penfolds has played a pivotal role in the evolution of winemaking in Australia since 1844.

A visit to the Penfolds Barossa Valley Wine Sales and Cellar Door is a unique experience and one not to be missed.

Visitors can taste the world-renowned Grange and other Penfolds premium wines, just a stone’s throw from the cellars where the Penfolds winemakers work throughout the year.

Mengler Hill is a hill and popular lookout in the Barossa Range, South Australia. The hill was named after an early wine grower in the area. The Barossa Sculpture Park is sited at the base of the lookout area.

Lunch is Included
Wanera Wine Bar in Angaston provides the Barossa region with a sophisticated wine bar experience with good quality food in an elegant, exposed-stone place with a restaurant, function rooms, mezzanine and courtyard.

Located in the historic building on Murray Street, the Wanera prides itself on excellent service & high quality food and beverages.

We encourage our visitors to wander around the Farm Shop and take the opportunity to taste all Maggie Beer and Pheasant Farm products; Want to learn more about Maggie’s flagship products Verjuice and Vino Cotto as well as her seasonal products? Come and learn for yourself how you can add that special quality to your cooking too with Maggie’s abundance of delicious products.

Eat
We are so excited about this new chapter at the farm. Led by Maggie and Colin’s youngest daughter, Elli (with Mum and Dad firmly behind her in the renovations) it has given a whole new meaning to what was the Function Centre building.

Wine Tasting is Included
Seppeltsfield Cellar Door provides seated wine tasting experiences hosted by our knowledgeable and friendly cellar door team.

Visitors can select from our tasting list which includes white, rose and red wines, as well as a range of our fortified products.

Tasting fee includes six wines that can be selected on the day from our current tasting list
