What makes Spoken Streets 10km Running Tour of Bunbury a unique experience ?
The Leschenault inlet throws up lots for us to admire and reflect upon as we pass it by. It hasn’t always been the way you see it today. Hear about the dramatic changes experienced here in a small passage of time!
Reopening soon this is an enchanting part of the run as we make our way through these wiley, ancient residents of the Inlet. Fortunately, the platform overlooking the mangroves provides a great view too, so there are several ways to enjoy these beauties if the actual boardwalk is not opened yet when we have our tour.
Koombana Bay has surprised a few in the past with a history of shipwrecks occurring here – some call it Shipwreck Bay! But the meaning of ‘Koombanah’ is much nicer than that. This bay has a knack for shimmering under the morning sun and is where we are most likely to spot some dolphins during the run.
Jetty Baths is a quiet little spot that comes alive in the summer season with an enviable restaurant or free bbq frontage. It’s part of the reason Bunbury became known as ‘The Brighton of the Colony’ in the 1930’s and is a beautiful hidden gem along the run!
An opportunity to reflect and look across the sea from this precious site
A staircase and loop road climb provide sweeping views en route and upon arrival to this signal hill in the heart of Bunbury. Think panorama and thank Alfred Boulter!
Why stop at one lookout? This one gets us closer to our cafe destination and takes us up some of the steepest steps in Bunbury – these are before the actual lookout tower! It’s also a beautiful place to wrap up our lighthouse saga.
