Cooinda is located very near the South Alligator River and adjacent to the world acclaimed Yellow Water Billabong. What you don’t see from the ground is Yellow Water feeding into the tidal South Alligator River and the amazing colour variations of many more floodplains as the river winds seaward.

With a guaranteed window seat on all our flights sit back and take in the majesty of Australia’s largest National Park whilst absorbing the informative commentary.
Kakadu enjoys two major climatic seasons, the “Wet” and the “Dry” season. Commencement and termination of Wet & Dry seasons by month for our flights are determined by the weather. If you are visiting in a transitional period E.G November/ May and you have your heart set on a certain flight path, it is best to contact the Kakadu team direct to confirm.
Dry season (approx June – November) View Jim Jim creek before Deaf Adder Valley, see the sacred site of Lightning Dreaming, then onto Arnhem Land Plateau, Mt Brockman, Ranger Mine, and Jabiru Town to see the famous Crocodile hotel. The art site of Nourlangie Rock is next, finishing with the Permanent waterholes, the windy South Alligator River, Floodplains and stunning Tributary.
Wet Season –
(approx December – May) Heading over Jim Jim Creek to the magnificent Twin and Jim Jim Falls, view the Arnhem Land Plateau on your way to Double Falls. See amazing variation in land forms over Deaf Adder Valley, Hole in wall, Lightning Dreaming and Nourlangie Rock. Flying home over dreaming waters (Deep water billabong), floodplains and the spectacular South Alligator River.
