Itinerary

Day 1: Leave Sydney for Mudgee via the beautiful Blue Mountains. Enjoy a guided Wine Tasting to visit 3 or 4 quality vineyards.

Stop At: Blue Mountains, Blue Mountains, New South Wales
Enjoy a stop for morning tea at one of the quaint villages in the Blue Mountains. You will have time to take in the some of the stunning sights of this World Heritage Listed National Park.

Pass By: Lithgow, Lithgow, Blue Mountains, New South Wales
Departing the Blue Mountains, your guide will take you further into the great Australian inland. Hear stories of the first inland explorers and learn about the struggles between the Aboriginal people of the area and the early settlers. You will get your first look at the sights and natural wonders which make inland Australia so unique.

Stop At: Mudgee, Mudgee, New South Wales
You will arrive in the charming inland town of Mudgee just in time for lunch at one of the many local cafes or restaurants. Mudgee is a wonderfully preserved colonial town and is famous for its many wineries and award-winning wines.

After lunch, it’s time to begin your private wine tasting tour of the region. Mudgee is famous for its Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. With its high altitude, warm summer days and cool evenings, the grapes ripen slowly, resulting in wines with an enhanced concentration of colour and flavour. You will visit 3 or 4 charming wineries with up to 10 tastings at each location.

Day 2: Mudgee to Sydney with 2 Wineries, a visit to historic Gulgong and see the famous Three Sisters in Katoomba.

Stop At: Gulgong, Gulgong, New South Wales
You guide will meet you at 9.15am for your trip north of Mudgee to the gold rush township of Gulgong. Established in 1870, just 3 years later it had a population of 20,000. These days, much of the 19th century character of the town remains with its heritage building and iron-lace balconies. Wander the crooked streets, built to follow the gold lode and delve into the quirky stores, a haven for potters, artists, craftspeople of the region. You may like to visit The Gulgong Pioneer Museum which has an outstanding collection of exhibits, including complete buildings that have been relocated to a ‘street’ on the site.

Taste the locally produced honey and wander the treasure trove of honey products and other goods on display. The ancient fermented drink of Mead is alive and well in Mudgee and your expert tasting guide can lead you through the tasting of 4 different types. From a light sparking Mead to a luxurious Mead liqueur you are bound to become a Mead convert!

Try the incredible range of local cheese, which is all traditionally made at the boutique factory. Your cheese maestro will lead your tasting experience through the 9 hand crafted artisan cheeses. With flavours ranging from subtle to bold you are certain to discover your new favourite tasty comestible.

You will visit 2 more very different wineries to complete your ultimate Mudgee Wine education. With some new favourite wines tucked into your luggage, it is time to farewell this unique rural town.

Look out over the glorious Capertee Valley, the second largest enclosed canyon in the world. With dramatic buttes and exposed sandstone escarpments it is a truly awe inspiring vista!

A visit to the Three Sisters will see this famous Rock Formation at their very best as they glow in the afternoon light. There is no better time of day to get that ideal picture! Refreshed and inspired by the beauty of the mountains, relax on the final stretch of your 2 day adventure to arrive back in Sydney by 7pm.
